The Pushkin Klezmer Band is a Jewish-Gypsy group from Kiev, featuring best wedding musicians from Ukraine and Moldova.
For centuries, these places have been nourishing rich traditions of klezmer and Romani music, and it is the only place in Europe, where klezmer culture is still alive today. Pushkin doesn’t try to revive klezmer: its musicians just continue the traditions, playing at weddings, parties, and concerts, in synagogues and in the streets. Pushkin’s repertoire includes modern and traditional arrangements of Jewish, Romani and Moldovan folklore, as well as street songs from Odessa and the Caucuses, fusing the styles of rollicking weddings and concert performances. They make you feel like in old Odessa wedding, after the glass is broken!
